Prospecting and extraction

GECAMINES SA's activities in the Southeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo are organized into three Groups.

- The South Group, including the mining region surrounding the city of Lubumbashi and the city of Kipushi.

- The Center Group surrounding the city of Likasi and the cities of Kambove and Kakanda.

- The West Group surrounding the city of Kolwezi and the locality of Luena.
LUBUMBASHI

SOUTH GROUP

- Geological potential: Polygone Kasonta-Lupoto (+/- 1,400,000 tons of copper), Kasombo V (100,000 tons of copper)

- Industrial potential: The Lubumbashi Electrical Plant

CENTER GROUP

1. Geological potential:
- Mine in activity: KAMFUNDWA: surface mine including reserves of up to 310,000 tons of copper.
- Mines in prospecting: M’SESA (170,000 tCu), KIBINDJI (100,000 tCu), KAJILANGWE (200,000 tCu) and SHANGOLOWE

2. Industrial potential:
- KAMBOVE Concentrator: concentration of cupro-cobaltiferous minerals by sulfuration.
- HMS Gravity Concentrator: concentration of minerals by dense liquid.
- SHITURU Plants: production of copper and cobalt through hydrometallurgy and pyrometallurgy, as well as by refining copper and cobalt.
- SHITURU acid plant: manufacture of industrial sulfuric acid used as a reagent in hydrometallurgy.
KOLWEZI

EAST GROUP

1. Geological potential
- Mine in activity: KILAMUSEMBU (432,000 tCu), surface mine in an intense discovery campaign after evaluation of potential in the process of being certified
- Mines in prospecting: KINGAMYAMBO (432,000 tCu), surface mine being prospected.

2. Industrial potential:
- KOLWEZI Concentrator: concentration of cupro-cobalt minerals by sulphidation.
- KOLWEZI Copper Plants: production of copper by means of hydrometallurgy.
